Money-Saving Tip: Buttons

Because I sew a lot and am always mending clothes with missing buttons, I save money by using my seam ripper to remove buttons from old clothes that are in too poor shape to be given away or taken to a consignment shop. I like to organize the saved buttons by color in old mint tins to help me find the ones I want more easily.

Doug Phillips Takes on Harry Potter

If you haven't read Doug's latest newsletter on why we should stand firm against letting our children read Harry Potter, you can read it here. It was a very thought-provoking article, which I will be sharing with my children. Doug draws the line between good and evil quite clearly. I found the Bible verses discussing witchcraft to be extremely helpful:
Witchcraft is declared to be an abomination (Exodus 22:18; Deuteronomy 8:9-12; 1 Samuel 15:23; Isaiah 8:19-20). Those who practice it are in rebellion against God (1 Samuel 15:23) and were subject to the death penalty (Exodus 22:18). They will not inherit the kingdom of heaven (1 Corinthians 6:9-10; Galatians 5:19-21), are detestable to the Lord (2 Kings 21:6; Micah 5:12; Isaiah 47:12; Ezekiel 13:18,20; Acts 8:11-24; Leviticus 20:27; Exodus 7:11; Revelation 9:21; 22:15), and will be cast into the burning lake of fire (Revelation 21:8).

Scotch Brite Kitchen Cloth

I haven't had a working dishwasher for a couple of months so I have been doing dishes by hand - a first for me. I have found these Scotch Brite microfiber cloths to be the best for drying dishes. They're not too big and cumbersome, they dry dishes well, and they dry quickly for your next use. You can get a coupon here.

A Little Chuckle

The sitemeter button on the sidebar allows me to know how people arrived at this blog. Someone showed up here today by searching for "housewife adult" on MSN. I was the thirteenth link. Somehow, I don't think I was the kind of housewife that person was looking for. [Insert chuckle here.]
